Abadi & Co.’s team has deep knowledge and experience of the economic, financial and regulatory factors effecting financial institutions across jurisdictions, and we understand the assets held by these institutions. We have strong relationships with financial institutions, bank executives and central bankers around the world. The diverse structuring experience of our team, and knowledge transfer from decades of trading and restructuring financial institutions, supports Abadi & Co.’s ability to successfully close complex and idiosyncratic deals. Our international experience means that we are skilled at working on international and cross-border deals.

The commercial and regulatory environment financial institutions must operate within is constantly evolving; however, since the financial crisis of 2007-08, there has been a seismic shift, particularly in terms of regulation. In an effort to reduce systemic risk and prevent the need for future government bail-outs, the measurement and management of regulatory capital and liquidity requirements has been significantly enhanced. Across the world, banks have had to adjust their capital structures—and continue to do so—in order to meet new requirements. Our team is well-versed in the Basel III guidelines, along with the EU’s CRD IV legislation. We have worked with banks and regulators to develop new capital solutions which conform to Basel III and jurisdiction-specific requirements. We are not afraid to break new ground in order to meet our clients’ objectives.

New regulations and heightened enforcement action has forced banks to grow their compliance spending, which has increased pressure on banks to consolidate and take advantage of scale. Strategic reviews, carried out in light of the new regulatory capital and liquidity environment, have also led to a wave of divestitures, as banks seek to shed capital-intensive businesses which are unprofitable or underperforming. Our familiarity with the financial services sector means that we are particularly well placed to identify acquisition targets and advise acquirers or targets.

Take advantage of our wealth of industry knowledge and expertise by letting us serve your financial institutions investment banking needs.
